Since 2022
Adriana Cavita’s first solo project in the UK is a traditional Mexican restaurant named Cavita in the heart of Marylebone Village. Built around the knowledge acquired from her travels, Cavita encompasses food traditions from all over Mexico, from the capital, where Adriana was born, across to Oaxaca and the Yucatan.
Adriana’s food harks back to the simplest cooking methods employed by generations of cooks before her in Mexico. There is a stunning selection of seafood starters in the raw bar, which combine the freshest sustainably caught fish with vibrant citrus dressings and sauces. Elevated street food features heavily at the restaurant, born from the love of her grandmother who sold Antojitos from a roadside stall in Azcapotzalco. You will find a wonderful variety of tacos including baja fish and cochinita pibil, alongside lesser-known plates, such as Tetelas; a triangular shaped blue corn pocket filled with roasted pink fir potato and smoked corn.
The Restaurant
The 70-cover restaurant has an open fire kitchen at its core, with reclaimed granite tables for couples and smaller groups, as well as communal dining available at the chef's table. Downstairs sits the hidden mezcaleria, Mayahuel, a beautiful atmospheric cocktail and mezcal bar and a wonderful spot to enjoy the finest Mexican spirits.
Larger plates are based around a selection of moles - from the word mōlli in Nahuatl meaning sauce - integral to Mexican cookery and made differently all over the country. You will find hearty sharing style plates with octopus, herb fed chicken and whole fish featuring heavily.
We are excited to invite you to a culinary journey through her beloved Mexico.
